Holy Cross Wellness Ministry
We are a group of parishioners who are either active or retired health providers in the community or those who are interested in the holistic health of the community of Holy Cross and beyond. We provide health resources and other information such as blood pressure checks, expert discussions, access to CPR training, blood drives, and information on the latest health tips. We also visit the sick at the hospital or in their homes and find resources to help parishioners in need, for example, finding someone to mow your yard after you’ve had surgery. What the Wellness Ministry does not do is “hands on” care for parishioners or parishioners’ family members. We do not provide home health services or write prescriptions.
Everyone is a potential health minister. If you are interested in joining this ministry or if you are in need of this ministry, please call Deborah Flanagan at 288-4716. She will find the right person to help.
Updates and Upcoming Events
- Purell hand-sanitizing stations have been placed at each entrance to the sanctuary. Please use these before entering the church to help prevent spread of colds and flu. Ideally, it would be good to wash your hands and then use the sanitizer, but if you are unable to wash, please at the very least use the sanitizer. Thank you!
- According to the Center for Disease Control, flu shots are the best way to prevent the flu. Get your yearly flu shot from your doctor or pharmacy.
- Advent in December: We will have a guest speaker talking about mental health. More details to come.
- February is Heart Health Month. We will be providing CPR training for everyone at Holy Cross. The committee is also trying to find a way to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) in our church.
