JULY 2010 AT HOLY CROSS

ADULT FORUM SUMMER SERIES – During the month of August, there will be special sessions on Outreach Ministries offered for our Adult Forum. Sessions will include information on The Center for Community Services, York Place, Women to Women and more… Adult Forum meets from 10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

WOMEN TO WOMEN - is excited to host its annual book and bake sale on Sunday, August 15, to benefit Afghans 4 Tomorrow. This Episcopal Relief and Development Fund helps women and girls learn crafts and skills to help them gain economic independence.  Please support this effort by donating used books and baked goods, which will be sold after each service. There is a basket currently available to drop off your books.  You can bring your baked goods to church with you on the day of the sale. Donated baked goods should be packaged in small quantities and pre-priced by the dollar. Thanks for your support!

DOK - The Daughters of the King will be kicking off the fall with a joint meeting (instead of separate am/pm) at 7 pm on August 10 to discuss the year ahead.  In September, we will be offering training classes to potential Daughters as well as Daughters who would like a refresher course.  Those who would like to take these courses can contact Brenda Jenkins:  brendajenkins55@prtcnet.com

TELEPHONE FRIENDS - A NEW MINISTRY - A new ministry is beginning at Holy Cross.  A telephone system is being established to stay in touch with persons who live alone, have little contact with the outside world, and would appreciate a call from one of us to check on them and share a little conversation.  If you know of someone who is in need of this ministry (including yourself) or would be willing to be one of the callers, please let Ande Zander know either by phone at 962-8318 or email at ezander@verizon.net.

 NEW GROUPS ARE FORMING AT HOLY CROSS!

- Holy Spinners:  A bike riding group for men and women of all ages.  All levels can participate.  Weather permitting we are planning our first ride this Sunday March 28.  Meet us in the church parking lot Sunday at 1pm For additional info please contact Bill Englert at wme208@verizon.net

 - Looking for all parish photographers! This group is open to all with an interest in photography - We welcome everyone from beginner to advanced Activities may include group discussions, photo assignments, workshops, photographic services to Holy Cross and field trips. If you are interested please contact Randy Cockrill at rockrill@charter.net

 - Dinner/Foyer Group  We are in the planning stages of forming a supper club.

Tentative thinking: Select a host/hostess.  They would have 4 couples to their home.  People would be a mix group from all three services.  Each couple attending would bring a delicious dish to share. The following month a different host and a different group would get together. Great way to meet a wide variety of people at Holy Cross  If anyone has experienced this before or has information to share please contact me.  Gail Englert gge208@verizon.net
